About Zane Carson

I’m Zane Carson, a certified 3rd Class Power Engineer. With 15+ years in oil & gas, plant operations, and industrial maintenance, I bring a safety-first approach, strong technical skills, and hands-on experience in both field and plant environments.

Currently operating as a CSR & CSU Operating Contractor with Cenovus (through Paradigm), I specialize in keeping wells running safely, efficiently, and in compliance.

Third Degree Operations 

  • Provide field-level operations support on Cenovus wells, ensuring safe and efficient production activities.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize well performance and equipment reliability.
  • Perform daily site inspections, safety checks, and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate cold well and thermal well start-ups and shut-downs.
  • Support maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning of oilfield equipment.
  • Coordinate hiring and supervision of contracted crews, equipment, and personnel.
  • Review and correct P&IDs to ensure accuracy and compliance with site standards.

Terrapure Environmental (Now GFL) 

  • Operated and maintained process equipment, including centrifuges, pumps, compressors, and boilers to separate and treat oils, water, and solids within the tank farm.
  • Conducted daily tank farm product transfers and dewatering operations to isolate dry oil, consistently achieving a purity of 5% water or less.
  • Performed a variety of lab tests on incoming products, including oil retorts, flash point, density, viscosity, and pH tests to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Managed daily boiler rounds, including blowdowns and water sampling, to maintain optimal water chemistry by testing for Molybdenum, P and M alkalinity, TDS, and pH.
  • Utilized heavy-duty equipment like forklifts, front-end loaders, skid steers, and vacuum trucks for daily operations.
  • Documented all tasks and transactions in logbooks and digital programs, including Microsoft Excel, for billing and site management.
  • Blended fuels and oils to optimize pipeline flow and mixed products to create new salable materials.
